Joseph Phua is the managing partner of Turn Capital, a value investing fund focused on Asia. They acquire undervalued consumer technology companies in the series B-D range, turn them around and exit via IPO or M&A within 5 years. He is also the co-founder of the dating app Paktor, co-founder/chairman of the listed live streaming platform 17LIVE Group, chairman of the SoundOn Group, and founder of Nextapple News.
During his time as CEO of 17LIVE Group, he led the company from USD2m revenue to USD400m revenue and listed it on the Singapore Exchange, marking the first de-SPAC and the first live-streaming company listed on SGX.
Mr. Phua holds an MBA degree from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University. In 2021, he established a scholarship to support a Taiwanese or Singaporean student admitted to the Booth School of Business MBA program.
