Mr. Michael Pareles founded and leads SYP Advisors Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based consultancy specializing in helping climate tech, web3, and AI deep tech companies of all maturities grow and scale across the Asia Pacific and the Americas. He is also an Operating Partner at 1Infinity Ventures, a global Responsible AI venture capital fund, and Silicon Sands, 1Infinity’s Responsible AI-focused venture studio. A Singapore Permanent Resident, Pareles is a member of Lorong AI, the Singapore government’s AI innovation hub, and has worked with Singapore EDB to help companies’ establish digital incubators and internal venture studios. Previously at Bayer AG, he built a team of over 60 people across seven countries, including the data science and rapid prototyping teams. He also worked with start-ups, strategics and VCs to launch digital service ventures in the Asia Pacific, including a smallholder farmer credit platform with global banking partners in Southeast Asia.

Before moving to Singapore, Pareles helped introduce a variety of leading edge technologies to industry, including founding Monsanto’s Global Blockchain Center of Excellence, developing the company’s GDPR-compliant web3 strategy and standards, and launching, commercializing and spinning out Traceharvest, the world’s first blockchain-based traceability platform for row crops.

Prior to joining Monsanto, Pareles was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar in China and spent almost a decade representing American companies with business and government partners in Beijing and Washington, DC. He received his BA from the University of Chicago and MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
