Maurizio Tamagnini is the Founder and Managing Partner of Milan-based FSI, the largest European private equity fund fully dedicated to a single country, Italy, with €5bn of capital managed. Mr. Tamagnini and its FSI Partners have been over the last 15 years at the heart of Italy’s private equity investment landscape, having completed over 50 platform and bolt-on investments especially in the Tech, Fintech and Healthcare sectors, with several high profile exits leading to a strong and consistent track record.
Further to the current EUR 1.6 bn Flagship Fund, FSI is currently in the process of finalizing the closing of a new Lower Mid-Market scale up initiative, with a € 1 billion target, that will integrate FSI current capabilities by investing in highly growing and dynamic companies in key sectors highlighted in the Draghi Report.
Further to his FSI responsibilities, Mr. Tamagnini is also among the Founders and a Board Member of the Tech Europe Foundation (TEF), the new Foundation aiming to create an ecosystem with one thousand technology start-ups in Italy.
He is also a member of the International Advisory Board of the Harvard Medical School of BIDMC (Boston) and Chair of the Board of Data technology firm Cerved.
From 2014 to 2025, Maurizio Tamagnini served as Chairman or Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of STMicroelectronics, a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, jointly owned by the Italian and French governments, with a current market capitalization of US$ 40 billion.
Previously, he worked for more than 20 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as Head of Southern Europe for Corporate and Investment Banking and as a member of the Executive Committee for the EMEA region.
He holds a degree with honors in International Monetary Economics from Bocconi University in Milan and completed postgraduate studies at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, USA.
