Nick Cooney is a Partner at LCP and leads the firm's private and alternative credit research activities. He advises institutional investors on private credit strategy, manager due diligence and portfolio construction across both established and emerging credit strategies.
His research responsibilities span direct lending, asset-backed finance, opportunistic credit, distressed debt and other alternative credit asset classes, giving him a broad perspective on investor sentiment, market dynamics and manager capabilities within the evolving private credit landscape. Nick works closely with institutional investors and specialist credit managers to assess investment opportunities, understand emerging trends and identify the risks and opportunities created by different stages of the credit cycle.
In addition to his research responsibilities, Nick contributes to LCP's macroeconomic and investment strategy discussions, with a particular focus on credit market dynamics and their implications for institutional investors.
Nick holds a degree in Economics and an MBA from Durham University Business School. Outside of work, he serves on the investment committee of a UK charity and is a Director of the Royal Thames Yacht Club in London.
