With nearly 20 years of experience in the financial sector—half of which has been devoted to financing innovation, both in the seed phase and at more mature stages—Thibaut began his career in tech as a software engineer. After working at Capgemini Finance & Services, he joined BNP Paribas Cardif in 2007, where he held various strategic positions in audit, digital, and innovation. This background enabled him to launch—as Head of Startup Relations at BNP Paribas Cardif—an initial venture capital strategy focused on transforming the insurance sector. In January 2018, he joined BNP Paribas Asset Management to create Opera Tech Ventures, which became BNP Paribas' fintech venture capital arm, which he developed for six years before joining RAISE Ventures.

Throughout his career, Thibaut Schlaeppi has invested in various sectors such as fintech, insurtech, climatech, proptech, and regtech, acquiring in-depth knowledge of investment ecosystems in both Europe and the United States.

He joined RAISE Ventures in November 2024 as Co-head alongside Stéphane Pesqué, steering the firm’s pre-seed to Series B strategy across Europe, with a focus on Responsible Tech and Sovereign AI. Through RAISE Ventures, Thibaut invests in making AI fit for high-stakes environments like finance, infrastructures, industries, health… Each year, RAISE Ventures co-publishes the “Future in Focus” report with international VC firms on the next frontier of AI and early-stage venture.
