Martin is the Head of Tax at SSE Plc, the UK listed energy group. Martin joined SSE from PwC in 2008 and was instrumental in the group achieving Fair Tax Mark accreditation in 2014, SSE being the first FTSE 100 company to achieve accreditation. Martin is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser and has sat on the Corporate Tax Committee and Scottish Taxes Committee at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. In addition to his position at SSE, Martin is a Board Member at Revenue Scotland, Scotland’s devolved taxes authority, and chairs their Audit and Risk Committee. Martin also chairs the UK Electricity Industry Tax Forum.
