James joined Actis in January 2016, where he works as a Director in the Sustainability team and sits on the firm’s Risk Committee. James has over 17 years of global sustainability experience in the private equity, banking, and development finance sectors. Prior to joining Actis, James spent three years in CDC Group plc’s ESG team, where he supported the private equity team with investments across in Africa and South Asia. Prior to CDC, James spent eight years as a Senior Consultant with Environ in the M&A and International Finance teams, advising a wide variety of clients across several major industrial sectors including power generation, oil & gas, and petrochemical industries across Europe, Africa and Asia. James is a member of the PRI’s Infrastructure Advisory Committee, the African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association sustainability committee and holds an MSc Applied Meteorology & Climatology from the University of Birmingham.
