Group Tax Director at SSE

Martin McEwen is the Group Tax Director at SSE plc, the FTSE listed energy company. Martin was instrumental in SSE plc becoming the first FTSE 100 company to obtain Fair Tax Mark accreditation and is a regular speaker on tax transparency measures. He has also been involved in extensive tax litigation during his 17 years at the company, with SSE having been successful at the First Tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal, and the Supreme Court.

Martin is a member of the CBI’s Tax Committee and Green Taxes Working Group. He also spent 6 years on the Board of Revenue Scotland, Scotland’s devolved taxes authority, and Chaired their Audit and Risk Committee.
