Martin is the Head of Tax at SSE plc, the UK listed energy group. Martin was instrumental in the group achieving Fair Tax Mark accreditation, being the first FTSE 100 company to achieve accreditation, and is a regular speaker on tax transparency and tax reporting. SSE won PwC’s Building Public Trust Award for Tax Reporting in the FTSE 350 for 2022 and 2023. Martin is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser and has sat on the Corporate Tax Committee and Scottish Taxes Committee at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. In addition to his position at SSE, Martin is Deputy Chair of the Board at Revenue Scotland, Scotland’s devolved taxes authority, and chairs their Audit and Risk Committee.
