Three News Faces: Competition Law in the Retail Sector

In a world with continuing opposition between the online space and bricks and mortar shops, we continue to explore the Retail sector as it develops.

With that in mind, we welcome three new speakers to our Competition Law Challenges in the Retail Sector conference this month. Here’s the lowdown of who’s who…    

David Berry, UK Legal Director, Tesco Plc

David Berry

David Berry is the UK Legal Director at Tesco Plc where he leads the legal teams supporting Tesco’s businesses in the UK and Ireland. Prior to joining Tesco in September 2015, David was General Counsel M&A, IP and Antitrust at Diageo plc. David spent fourteen years at Diageo in a number of roles throughout the UK and the US having started his career as a competition lawyer at Freshfields.

Marceline Tournier, Senior Competition Counsel, Nestlé

Marceline Tournier

Marceline Tournier is Senior Antitrust Counsel Globally Managed Businesses and M&A for Nestlé S.A. in Vevey, Switzerland.

Prior to joining Nestlé S.A. in 2008, Marceline worked as a UK and EU antitrust lawyer in the City of London at Clifford Chance (1999-2006) and Hogan & Hartson (2006-2008).

Marceline has extensive competition law experience covering antitrust investigations, sector inquiries, merger control and joint venture cases and utilities regulation. Marceline’s sector expertise includes consumer goods, financial services, private equity, energy, water and transport.

Marceline obtained a B.A. (cum laude) from George Washington University in Washington D.C. and is a UK qualified solicitor. Marceline works in English, French, German and Spanish.

Allesandro Tajana, Senior Legal Counsel, Johnson & Johnson

Alessandro Tajano

Allesandro began his competition law career as a trainee at the European Commission for 6 months in 2003. He then moved to become an Official in the Legal Department at Confindustria. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Allesandro was an Associate in the Linklaters’ Competition and Antitrust Department from 2005-2007. For the past nine years, Allesandro has been a Senior Competition Counsel at Johnson & Johnson, where he covers competition throughout Europe.
