Andrea SchusterSenior Scientist at Axolabs GmbHSpeaker
Profile
Andrea graduated from the University of Bayreuth in 2003 with a degree in biochemistry. In the same year she entered the oligonucleotide field pursuing her PhD at Alnylam Europe AG in Kulmbach. During this time, she utilized her biochemical background to perform solid phase synthesis of siRNAs and chemical modifications for improved cellular uptake. Subsequently, she worked in the biology department of the Roche Center of Excellence for RNA-based Therapeutics, where she analyzed various siRNA conjugates in cell culture experiments and animal models. In 2012, Andrea joined Agenus where she led an antibody discovery and characterization group focused on therapeutic antibodies against checkpoint modulators and took several projects through IND filing. After her maternity leave, she joined Axolabs in 2018 in the Quality Assurance department, where she became familiar with the regulatory aspects of oligonucleotide development. In 2019 she became part of the Bioanalytics group - responsible for the planning and execution of bioanalytical projects such as method validation, non-clinical and clinical studies using PNA-HPLC assay.
Andrea is currently leading the team for HPLC-based assays within the Bioanalytics department and works as a project manager, coordinating various bioanalytical and analytical projects for international customers at Axolabs.
