John Lopez is a peptide synthesis specialist at Novartis with a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Chile (2002), where he researched Aza-peptides as beta-amyloid aggregation inhibitors for Alzheimer’s disease. From 2003 to 2006, he was a postdoctoral researcher at EPFL (Lausanne, Switzerland) under Professor Manfred Mutter, focusing on Cyclosporine analogues and peptidomimetics for neurodegenerative diseases. He then led the peptide unit team at Carbogen-Amcis (Bubendorf, Switzerland) from 2006 to 2011, developing processes for large-scale peptide production. Since 2011, John has headed the SPPS team at Novartis (Basel, Switzerland), overseeing the development of manufacturing processes for peptide drugs in collaboration with internal and external partners
