Nicolo Zuin Fantoni, PhDSenior Scientist, Oligonucleotides at F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd.Speaker
Profile
Nicolò is a Senior Scientist at F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG where he works in oligonucleotide process development. He obtained his Ph. D. degree in chemistry at Dublin City University DCU, in Dublin, Ireland. Here, he conjugated artificial metallo-nucleases to oligonucleotide strands as sequence specific gene editors. After a postdoctoral research stay at the University of Oxford (where he worked on the development of new chemical strategies to produce modular synthetic circRNA, tRNA and antisense technologies) he started in Jan 2022 his professional career at ATDBio (now part of Biotage). In ATDBio he held the position of senior scientist and he carried out the synthesis and purification of modified oligonucleotides on various scales for academic and industrial customers while being involved in the development of enzymatic based assays and validation strategies. In 2023 Nicolò joined Roche in PTDC-C as a TIS postdoctoral scientist working on chemo-enzymatic approaches for the synthesis of modified RNAs. In 2024 he moved to pCMC to work in the oligonucleotide process development lab as a Senior Scientist. Nicolò co-authored 10 publications in peer reviewed journals, 2 patents and has presented his work in several conference lectures.
