Oleg Melnyk, Ph.D.Research Director at CNRSSpeaker
Profile
Oleg Melnyk is leading a chemical biology group at the Pasteur Institute of Lille (France) and has a significant contribution to chemical protein synthesis and chemical biology fields. He’s has been elected as the French national representative at the European Peptide Society (EPS) and is in the scientific board of Biopolymers and International Journal of Peptide Research and Therapeutics. He is particularly inspired by nature for designing new chemistries. He also contributed to the understanding of hepatocyte growth factor/MET receptor activation determinants and MET agonist design using chemical biology approaches.
He successfully valorized the innovations developed in his lab through the co-foundation of start-ups (Innobiochips in 2008, XProChem in 2012) and the licensing of patents. Noteworthy, he develops in collaboration with the University of Pavia in Italy a protein agonist of MET receptor that has been patented and licenced at the end of 2022 to a leading pharmaceutical company. The protein is developed for the treatment of regenerative disorders.
