Dr. Kandasamy is a Vice President of Medicinal Chemistry at Wave life sciences, where he leads the platform chemistry. His work is dedicated to oligonucleotide backbone chemistry and sugar modification to improve PK/PD of oligonucleotides which is applicable to various modalities including silencing ASO and siRNA, Splicing ASO and AIMer (RNA editing). Prior to Wave life sciences, he worked at alnylam on siRNA delivery technologies (both GalNAc and LNP) which led to many approved drugs. He has authored >30 peer-reviewed publications and >20 patents. He earned his Ph.D. in synthetic carbohydrate chemistry focused on discovering new methods for stereospecific anomeric C-O and C-C bond formation related to GalNAc sugars from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India.
