Sustainability
At TMRE our aim is to become an ever more sustainable, positive impact business. We focus on the areas in which we can make the most significant contribution: our operations, the content and knowledge our brands provide and the communities in which we work. To learn more, visit our sustainability page.
We do this not only because more than 80% of our attendees tell us that they care that our events are run in a responsible manner, but because it is the right thing to do for our customers, colleagues, and the communities we serve.
Sustainability Tips
Booth Materials, Shipping & Activations onsite
When designing your booth space, always consider where your materials are coming from and you will do with the booth materials after TMRE. These are some of the areas that you should consider:
All exhibit items and materials must be removed and cannot be left as waste onsite at the end of the event.
- Flooring is not mandatory – so you can do any of the following to demonstrate sustainable usage
- Do not install flooring in booth.
- Flooring in your booth can be reused across multiple events.
- Rent your flooring from the general service contractor.
- Your booth display should be reusable at multiple shows
- Choose construction methods that allow components to be taken apart and reused or donated (i.e. no adhesive).
- Avoid materials like Styrofoam/Polystyrene, PVC, fiberglass, Sintra.
- Disposal of any products onsite is prohibited, and all materials must be taken away with you.
- You should consider making all your signage recyclable
- Signage should be produced on 100% recyclable substrate.
- Signage should not include foam core or PVC materials.
- Reduce use of one-time use vinyl signage.
- Printed/promotional items onsite:
- Reduce or eliminate handouts onsite.
- Switch any required printed materials to FHC certified or materials with environmental credentials.
- Provide some sort of digital QR code scan (Check out this link for tips).
- Communicate your sustainable initiatives onsite – Spread the word!
- Choose the most sustainable option possible for your journey to and from the event for your staff
- Consolidate your shipments that are arriving at the facility and use shipping companies that are Smart Way certified or have some sustainable credentials
- Consider purchasing carbon offset credits for your staff travel to and from the show
Let's Conserve Energy!
The use of electrical power in your booth can be easily managed and reduced by following certain reduction protocols.
- Lighting should be LED to reduce usage. You should try and reuse lights show over show
- Electronic displays used in your booth space should be energy efficient or hold the Energy Star certification
- Turn off/power down all equipment or powered items in your space at the end of each show day
10-point Sustainability Checklist
We would like to encourage you to join our sustainability efforts by completing the 10-point checklist.
Do You Know What Happens To Your Booth?
By working together, we can make the event more memorable, meet our audience’s expectations and reduce wasted time, resources, and costs.
How are you engaging with clients, partners and others in the community?
One key area of sustainability is building sustainable businesses, relationships and communities around you and your business. Whether you are a company that operates a smaller regional company or a larger multi-national company, there are ways to build and support the community around you.
- Are there things that you are doing within your business community to create a more sustainable industry?
- Are you involved in associations to help maintain good standards, work practices, promote industry recruitment and sustainable industry awareness?
- What DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusive) initiatives is your company embedding in business practices?
- Are there environmental sustainable business practices in place at your office, manufacturing facility, job sites, etc.?
- Is your company involved with any local non-profit organizations?
If you have any questions regarding your sustainable booth practices, please reach out. We would also love to hear what you are doing in your booth and in the industry community around you so we can share on social media. Contact TMRESupport@informa.com.
DEI at TMRE
In addition to sustainability, we strive for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). In our DEI mission, we are constantly learning, and we hope you will join us in making this event a place for all!
Please review this Inclusive Language Guide that our friends at IMEX created and are allowing us to borrow. This is a great guideline on how to make people feel safe, authentic, and welcome.
