Tax Policy Expert at EUROPEAN COMMISSION

Back in 2010, starting as a tax trainee at a Big-4 firm formed an unexpected but welcome career opportunity for me as I had studied Arabic language and culture, European Studies and Theology. Maintaining my focus on international topics, I have specialized in cross-border tax issues and worked as a tax advisor to MNEs, as tax inspector focusing on financial institutions and as a tax law and policy maker at the Dutch Ministry of Finance. Having a diverse combination of ‘on the ground’ experience is valuable in my current position as tax policy specialist at the European Commission. For the past couple of years my focus has been on the Pillar Two project: first as part of the team that implemented the Pillar 2 rules in Dutch legislation and currently at DG TAXUD.
