Giulia Ferraris is a senior policy officer in the Data Intelligence and Technology department at ESMA. She started her career in the private sector in London and has worked at ESMA for the past 13 years on market abuse and MIFIR/EMIR data reporting. In her current role, she leads the work on MICA market abuse surveillance and the comprehensive review for the simplification of transaction reporting, which is one of ESMA flagship projects on simplification and burden reduction.

The data intelligence and technology department of ESMA is the department responsible for the entire lifecycle of the datasets under the authority responsibility. This goes from the definition of data requirements to the development of the system to ingest and process it and the final analytical use of the data.
