Luke has a traditional and commercial Chancery practice. His traditional Chancery work includes trusts litigation, claims against, and involving the removal of, trustees and executors, the administration of estates, 1975 Act claims, proprietary estoppel and probate disputes. His commercial work includes claims involving commercial chattels, the sale of goods and personal and proprietary tracing claims.
Luke has special expertise in claims involving art and antiquities, objects of cultural value, personal property and conversion and bailment. He acts for private individuals, states and auction houses on a range of associated issues including title and ownership disputes, security interest, misattribution and forgery, insurance, art loans and export licensing. He has for many years been the only band 1 listed junior in the field of art and cultural property in the leading directories.
Luke teaches regularly on the LLM in Art, Business and Law (on equity, personal property, civil procedure and auction law) at Queen Mary University of London, and has given advice on English law to foreign courts.
