Dr. Taheri is a board-certified Interventional cardiologist He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center (1993) and completed his Internal medicine and Cardiology fellowship at George Washington University (1999). He completed Interventional cardiology fellowship at the Northwestern University Medical School (2000). He is a founding member of Carient Heart and vascular institute serving Northern Virginia since 2000. He has served as the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at UVA prince William medical center since inception in 2010. Under his directorship, Cardiac Cath lab at PWH medical center have achieved several milestones, and quality metrics awards in interventional cardiology. He serves in multiple leadership roles including current Chairman of Invasive Cardiology Quality Improvement committee at Prince William Hospital and Inova Fairfax hospital.
He is the Director of Clinical Research at Carient Heart and Vascular and serves as Principal investigator for several multicenter and international clinical trials. Carient has been consistently among the top enrolling sites in multiple trials offering the novel treatment options to our patients. He also serves on speaker bureau for several pharmaceutical companies and lectures regularly on novel cardiovascular therapeutics.
Dr. Taheri is well known and highly regarded by the Greater Washington medical community. He is the Past president of the Prince William County medical Society as well as the past president of Iranian American Medical Society of Greater Washington. He has consistently been voted Top Cardiologist by his peers in the Washingtonian magazine since 2002 as well of Northern Virginia magazine since 2014.
His area of clinical interests includes complex coronary intervention, Structural heart disease, Cardiogenic shock, and lipid disorder.
