Over the past 15 years, the landscape of green bonds has witnessed remarkable growth, with an expanding pool of issuers seeking to finance projects that align with climate and environmental objectives. The allure of this market remains palpable, as it not only allows issuers to raise capital for sustainable initiatives but also provides investors with an avenue to support these initiatives while potentially generating competitive financial returns. As the investor base for green bonds continues to broaden, driven by the appeal of responsible investment and ESG considerations, a need has arisen for investors to grasp key nuances when integrating these bonds into their portfolios.

As the global community rallies around climate initiatives and sustainable development, it begs the question: What will the trajectory of the green bond market be in the coming years, and how will factors like climate policies, regulations, and international commitments shape its course?

Doug Farquhar, Lead Portfolio Manager Green, Social and Impact Bonds, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, joined Emma Walden at the IMpower Studios in Monoaco, to explore how the green bond market has grown over the years and the key considerations for investors looking to add green bonds to their portfolio. He additionally dissects the trends and forces propelling the green bond market forward into a greener and more sustainable future.
