With a head for business and a heart for community for the last 16 years, Elizabeth Model has brought a commitment to excellence, integrity, and balance as the CEO of the Downtown Surrey’s dynamic Business Improvement Association.
Elizabeth has a strong business background in a variety of industries, with positions of General Manager, 10 years, for a large land development company with a diverse portfolio of businesses and over 100 staff. Coupled with her 13 years experience as the CEO with the Tri Cities Chamber of Commerce through the late 1980’s to 2001; she served the business community of three growing cities in economic development, tourism, community engagement, marketing and government advocacy. With a solid but unrelated, educational background, Elizabeth co-owned and operated six small businesses in her early stages of her working career.
She loves to travel & maintains life-balance and clarity by competing in Ironman Triathlon events throughout the world, which she began 21 years ago and has raced on every continent. She has coupled her Ironman endeavours with fundraising for causes close to her heart with raising over 60K and counting.
With her travel, it has given Elizabeth an educational and unique perspective on city and community building coupled with deep appreciation and gratitude for Canada and beautiful British Columbia.
