Nathaniel Amann-Blake (Nate) is the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals, appointed on November 18, 2024. He leads provincial efforts to strengthen B.C.’s critical minerals sector and advance responsible resource development.
He previously held senior leadership roles in the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation, including Assistant Deputy Minister of both the Energy Resources Division and the Mines Health, Safety and Enforcement Division, along with earlier senior policy positions. Nate joined the B.C. Public Service in 2007 with the Environmental Assessment Office, overseeing reviews of major projects, after beginning his public‑sector career with the Government of Canada in Indigenous Affairs
Nate holds a B.Sc. in Geography from the University of Victoria and an M.Sc. in Environmental Policy from the University of Oxford.
