Having served in multiple roles at CIBC, Peter Block has over 20 years of experience financing real estate transactions across Canada and the US.

Mr. Block currently leads CIBC’s Real Estate Finance business in Western Canada, and is responsible for delivering innovative financial solutions to meet client needs, and providing expert insight into the banking market. He manages billions of dollars in real estate credit and has extensive experience with construction and project finance, mergers and acquisitions, privatizations, and loan syndications. His business covers a range of clients in the public, private and institutional sectors and includes all major real estate asset classes. Mr. Block is manages CIBC’s sustainable finance initiatives for the Real Estate business.

Mr. Block served as a Director on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto (2017-2023). He is a frequent guest lecturer at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia. Mr. Block holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Queen’s University Smith School of Business in Kingston, Ontario and is a CFA Charterholder.
