Christel Kjenner

Director of Affordable Housing at City of Edmonton

Christel Kjenner has more than 15 years experience in the public sector, on both the administrative and political sides of government. Beginning in 2018, she led the City of Edmonton’s Affordable Housing and Homelessness section through significant change, creating a strategy that led to more affordable housing development in four years than in the previous decade. In her current role as Director of the Housing Action Team, Christel will oversee the implementation of an ambitious plan to increase both market and non-market housing supply in Edmonton. She previously worked in the Office of the City Manager and the Real Estate Branch. Before joining the City of Edmonton, Christel served as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Health at the Government of Alberta.
