Derek began his commercial real estate career in 2012 with a dedicated focus on rental apartment financing. He arranges debt for all asset classes although specializing in CMHC insured, purpose-built rental projects, conventional and bridge financing. In the last 13 years, Derek has arranged over $8 Billion in apartment financing alone and has become a leading expert in this market sector with clients ranging from private investors to REITs. Beyond structuring debt, Derek is a dedicated volunteer and leader in the industry and community which awarded him the 2019 Canadian Real Estate Industry Outstanding Young Leader Award and most recently, he was a Business in Vancouver’s Forty under 40 recipient. He has been an active board member with UDI U40, MIABC, LandlordBC, and the Canadian Federation of Apartment Associations and a mentor to many young professionals in the industry.
