Derek Townsend began his commercial real estate career in 2012 with a dedicated focus on rental apartment financing. He arranges debt for all asset classes although specializing in CMHC insured, purpose-built rental projects, conventional and bridge financing. In the last 11 years, Derek has arranged over $5 Billion in apartment financing alone and has become a leading expert in this market sector with clients ranging from private investors to REITs. Beyond structuring debt, Derek is a dedicated volunteer and leader in the industry and community which provided him he opportunity to be awarded the 2019 Canadian Real Estate Industry Outstanding Young Leader Award. He has been an active board member with UDI U40, MIABC, LandlordBC, and the Canadian Federation of Apartment Associations and a mentor to many young professionals in the industry.
