As the City of Brandon’s City Manager, Dave Wardrop brings over 30 years of municipal leadership experience as both a professional engineer and a chartered professional accountant. During this time Dave has developed extensive experience as a Chief Administrative Officer and by leading numerous high-profile projects, operations, and organizations. In 1997 Dave led field operations during Winnipeg’s Flood of the Century and as Director of Winnipeg Transit he oversaw the on-time and under-budget delivery of the Southwest Transitway Projects. As Winnipeg’s Chief Transportation and Utilities Officer, he provided leadership to a team of over 5,000 employees, overseeing Winnipeg’s Water and Waste, Public Works, and Transit Departments as well as its Fleet and Parking Services agencies.
Dave has attained his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, completed his Master of Science in Civil Engineering and graduated from the University of Manitoba’s Master of Business Administration program, receiving the Associates Award for highest academic standing. In 2022 Dave was honoured to be recognized by CPA Manitoba as a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA) for professional and community achievement.
Dave has a strong sense of community and has given his time to serve numerous organizations through Board and volunteer work that have included the City of Brandon Police Board, the United Way of Winnipeg, the City of Winnipeg’s Employee Charitable Fund, the RBC Winnipeg Convention Center, the Winnipeg Civic Employees’ Pension Plan, the Canadian Urban Transit Association, and others.
