Gavin Johnstone has been with True North Sports & Entertainment since 2013 spending the majority of his tenure within True North Real Estate Development (TNRED). TNRED is a Winnipeg based, Downtown centric full life cycle Real Estate Development Company which has significantly transformed Winnipeg’s Downtown. Projects such as TN Square, Wawanesa North American Headquarters, RWB Residences and Hargrave Street Market are some of the many projects that comprise the over $500M of successful Development projects TNRED has completed in the last 8 years. TNRED is current involved in over $750 million of additional downtown development with the Portage Place Redevelopment project, anchored by Health, Housing and Community Services being the most significant project.

In his current role, Gavin is responsible for the oversight of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, banking, internal controls, risk management, asset management and project management oversight for the multiple stakeholders and projects in the TNRED portfolio.

A lifetime Manitoban, Gavin attended the University of Manitoba and earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree before going on to earn both a Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) designation and a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation. Prior to joining True North in 2013, Gavin was a senior manager with accounting firm KPMG.

Gavin is currently an active Board member (Treasurer) for N’Dinawemak, an indigenous led barrier free homeless shelter in Downtown Winnipeg. He has recently accepted the appointment as a Trustee for the Collaborative Housing Alliance REIT (CHAR) and sits on the Advisory Committee of the Downtown Community Safety Partnership. He has consistently served Winnipeg’s charitable and sports community in a variety of board, coaching, and volunteer capacities throughout his career.
