Tom Spoerel joined Becton, Dickinson & Company (BD) in 2015 and currently serves as its Senior Vice President, CFO Regions and Acquisition Integration. Tom has stewardship over the company’s regional financial performance to ensure sustained profitable growth across all markets. BD is a global medical technology company and its operations serve patients and customers across the globe. In addition, Tom is the finance leader for the integration of the recently completed acquisition of the Edwards Life Science Critical Care assets. Prior to his current role, Tom held the position of Chief Accounting Officer, which he held for 8 years. His primary focus was to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting of BD’s financial statements as well as overseeing global accounting policy and financial reporting, supporting acquisition diligence and integration, and managing the accounting operations of its global shared services network.

Tom began his career in public accounting and, after 9 years, joined a global pharmaceutical manufacturing company in 2009. As Controller, he guided the company through an IPO in 2014 before joining BD.

Tom is a CPA, holds a BS in Accounting from Fordham University and an MBA from Columbia University.
