Álvaro Fomperosa Rivero is an EU official at the Court of Justice of the European Union and currently a référendaire at the General Court. Before joining the EU judiciary in 2021, he was a dispute settlement lawyer at the World Trade Organization in Geneva (2019–2021) and a competition lawyer with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton in Brussels and Washington, D.C. (2013–2019). He began his career as a Bluebook Stagiaire in the cabinet of Vice-President and Competition Commissioner Joaquín Almunia at the European Commission (2012–2013). He holds a dual degree in Law and Economics from Carlos III University of Madrid, an LLM in EU Law from the College of Europe in Bruges, and an LLM in Law, Science, and Technology from Stanford University.
