Profile
Álvaro Fomperosa Rivero holds a dual degree in Law and Economics from Carlos III University of Madrid, an LLM in EU Law from the College of Europe in Bruges, and an LLM in Law, Science, and Technology from Stanford University.
He began his career as a Bluebook Stagiaire in the cabinet of Vice-President and Competition Commissioner Joaquín Almunia. Following this, he spent five years as a competition lawyer at the Brussels and Washington, D.C., offices of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.
In 2019, Álvaro joined the World Trade Organization's Legal Affairs Division in Geneva as a dispute settlement lawyer, where he assisted panels in resolving international trade disputes.
Since 2021, he has served as a Référendaire in the cabinet of Judge José Martín y Pérez de Nanclares at the General Court, focusing on competition and State aid matters.
