Profile
Peter is the Head of Human Rights at Novartis, responsible for overseeing the company’s development and implementation of human rights commitments, aligned with the UN Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights and emerging legal standards.
Peter joined Novartis in 2019, after serving as the Director of Human Rights at BSR, a non-profit organization advising companies on human rights. At BSR he co-founded the Human Rights Working Group, and three other human rights collaborations between companies and civil society.
From 2019 to 2022, Peter served as the Co-Chair of the Human Rights and Labor Subcommittee of the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI), where he led several collective action projects and human rights training workshops for companies in the pharmaceutical industry.
He has published over 20 articles on business and human rights and is a frequent contributor and guest lecturer.
Peter is a US-trained lawyer with a Juris Doctor law degree from the University of Washington School of Law, and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College.
