Robert was appointed Head of Sustainable Finance EMEA on the 1 July 2019.

Robert started his career at Rabobank, where he has been active in the sustainable finance market for over 10 years in Europe and Asia, including renewable energy financing, financing water projects and carbon & energy derivatives. Together with a local team, Robert established the renewable energy finance business for Rabobank in the Asia. After his return to Europe, he has worked in a department where structured solutions are offered to clients, where Robert has (amongst others) structured innovative receivable transactions for water projects.

In 2016, Robert joined ING in the Energy Mid & Downstream department as Director and Deal Principal where he originated, structured and arranged corporate-, acquisition, holdco- and project financings for LNG import, retail, storage, pipelines, petrochemical and gas processing clients.

Sustainable Finance is a key strategic growth area for ING and the team acts as catalyst in accelerating commercial sustainable finance propositions for our clients across all sectors and products globally. Resulting in being the go-to-bank for sustainable business and staying a step ahead in the transition towards a sustainable economy.
