Devesh Dukhira has been the CEO of the Mauritius Sugar Syndicate over the last 9 years, and prior to that, he was its Chief Marketing Officer for another 8 years.

As the Mauritius Sugar Syndicate is responsible for sales of all locally produced sugars, prior to disbursement of the proceeds to the sugar producers, Devesh has been closely associated with the transformation which the industry has undergone since the end of the ACP/EU Sugar Protocol in 2009, namely from a supplier of essentially raw sugar for refining to being a producer of exclusively direct consumption sugars. Mauritius sugars are presently being sold in over 55 countries worldwide, and its strategy is to focus increasingly on the high value-added sugars, especially the Mauritius special sugars, for niche market segments. He made a presentation on these special sugars at the 30^th ISO Seminar held 2 years ago.

Devesh holds a Bachelor in Electronic Engineering from the University of Bristol (UK) and an MSC in Management from Boston University (US). He is aged 52, and is married with 2 daughters.
