Profile
Julian Price graduated in Agricultural Economics from the University of Aberdeen in 1985 and a post graduate diploma in Marketing from the University of Strathclyde in 1986. He joined ED&F Man in London in 1987 as a market analyst before moving to the trading desk in 1994 as a broker of ACP sugar to the EU. He rose to become Head of EU Raw Sugar Trading in 2012. Julian has served as Chairman of the Sugar Traders’ Association of the UK (1998 to 2002), as representative of Tanzania and later of Eswatini (Swaziland) on the ACP London Sugar Group, as Special Adviser to Zambia at the 5th WTO Ministerial Conference (2005 in Cancún), and as President of ASSUC – the European Association of Sugar Traders (2010 to 2018). Today, Julian is Executive Director of the ACP/LDC Sugarcane Industries Group. Julian also researches, compiles and writes about data and developments in the EU and UK sugar markets for consultancy clients, for presentation to international conferences, and for publication in websites, newspapers and magazines.
