Monica Thurman is Director Ethics and Legal Compliance for Intel. Monica is responsible for managing, developing, and implementing compliance policy, processes and initiatives. She works collaboratively with senior leadership in operations, the Responsible AI Council, and support functions across the organization to support the company’s commitment ethics and compliance. Prior to joining Intel, Monica served as the SVP, Chief Compliance Officer for XPO Logistics, Associate General Counsel for Thomson Reuters, and Director Compliance for Halliburton, where she reported to the CEO and Audit Committee to the Board of Directors. She was responsible for leading a team of compliance professionals to implement compliance, ethics, and international trade and sanctions programs across the enterprise. Monica started her legal career as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor with the Employee Benefit Security Administration. In her inhouse roles, she has successfully represented her clients before the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Office of Foreign Asset Controls, the U.S. Department of Labor, and she has led compliance M&A efforts for transactions valued at $34B in assets. Monica has conducted investigations involving the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Title VII, code of conduct, and accounting controls and irregularities. Prior to joining Intel, Monica was appointed to serve as an Advisory Board Member for the Paul Weiss ESG and Law Institute, is a Founding Advisory Board Member for Corporate Counsel Women of Color, and received a Mayoral appointment to serve on the Houston Civil Service Commission. She is a graduate of the United Way Project Blueprint Non-Profit Board of Directors Development Program and the Santa Clara University Black Corporate Board Readiness Program. Monica is a sought-after speaker in the United States and abroad and is the architect of an executive speaker series where she moderated a town hall with the Honorable Eric Holder. Monica received her BBA from Florida A&M University and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University, Bloomington. She enjoys spending time with family, is a passionate cyclist, and is an adventurous traveler.
