Robert MamounCEO at CiloaSpeaker
Profile
Robert Z. Mamoun holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Bordeaux and spent over 35 years as Research Director at INSERM, where his work spanned virology, oncology, protein engineering, and molecular modelling. In the early 2000s, while studying the hijacking of the exosome secretion pathway by retroviruses, he and his colleague Bernadette Trentin identified the "Pilot Peptide" — a discovery that underpins Ciloa's proprietary EVENGI platform. He co-founded Ciloa in 2011, one of the earliest companies dedicated to EV bioengineering, filing foundational patents as early as 2008. He also served as Director of UMS3725, one of Europe's largest BSL3 facilities at CNRS/University of Montpellier. A winner of the Sanofi 2020 iTech Award, Robert now leads Ciloa's clinical development programme for APN-EV, a first-in-class EV-based therapeutic targeting metabolic disease.
