Rita P.-Y. Chen, Ph.D., is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Academia Sinica, specializing in the design and translational development of peptide-based therapeutics, and has been granted more than ten patents. Dr. Chen’s research addresses critical unmet needs in infectious diseases and cancers by engineering novel peptides with distinct sequence motifs. Her pioneering work on membrane-disrupting antimicrobial peptides against multidrug-resistant pathogens has yielded a granted patent in Taiwan, pending applications in the US and Europe, and high-impact publications, including structural elucidation via cryo-electron tomography. At TIDES Asia, Dr. Chen will highlight the rational design and translational promise of these vital antifungal peptides.
