Dr. Collin WetzelAssociate Principal Scientist, Analytical Development at Nitto AveciaSpeaker
Profile
Dr. Collin Wetzel is an Associate Principal Scientist at Nitto Avecia working in the Analytical Development department. He has been working at Nitto Avecia for 5 years but has over 15 years of experience developing liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS) methods to study biomolecules. Prior to joining Nitto Avecia, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where he developed high resolution accurate mass spectrometry (HRAMS) methods to study cancer metabolism using stable isotope tracing. This work included nucleotide metabolism in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and glycolytic pathways in glioblastoma brain tumors. Before that, he received his Ph.D. at the University of Cincinnati for his work developing LC-MS-MS/MS methods to study modified nucleobases in tRNA and other nucleic acids. His current work is focused on developing a variety of analytical methods including the use of HRAMS and non-mass spectrometry-based techniques to characterize pharmaceutical oligonucleotides.
