Dr. Hitoshi Kuroda, PhDBusiness Development at StemRIMSpeaker
Profile
Dr. Hitoshi Kuroda started his career as a patent attorney in a patent firm in Tokyo. After that, he entered a graduate program at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans and obtained Ph.D. in neuroscience with his focus on gene delivery to the brain. (Unlike today, the most popular gene delivery vehicle at that time was viral vectors. He thinks lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are more advantageous now.) After finishing the graduate school, he joined a law firm in San Diego and dealt with various patent matters including prosecution, litigation and licensing. In 2020, he joined StemRIM Inc. as an in-house patent attorney and focused on patent portfolio strategy. Eventually his role had shifted, and now he is focusing on licensing, technology transfer and joint research. At TIDES Asia 2025, he will share the fascination of StemRIM’s lead product, TRIM4.
