Profile

Dr. Pouria Motevalian leads the Process Development, Analytical Development, and Manufacturing Science and Technology team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, overseeing CMC development from preclinical through late phase for viral vector and biologics programs. In this role, Dr. Motevalian provides strategic guidance, shaping scientific and operational plans to implement cutting-edge bioprocess technologies that meet the evolving clients needs. He also serves on the Biotechnology Advisory Board at Pennsylvania State University, where he guides industry partnerships to strengthen the university's role in biotech innovation, aligns graduate course curricula with industry needs, and supports workforce development.

Dr. Motevalian has authored several peer-reviewed publications and patent applications spanning viral vector and conjugate vaccine CMC development, computational modeling and process economics and cost reduction. Prior to joining Thermo Fisher Scientific, Dr. Motevalian led early- and late-stage process development for biologics and vaccines at Pfizer, where he played a pivotal role in integrating digital enablement technologies into bioprocess research and development.

Dr. Motevalian holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering with a minor in computational science from Pennsylvania State University. He actively engages with professional and scientific organizations such as ASGCT, and ISCT.
