Profile

Rachael Cohen is Director of Automation & Assays at Prime Medicine. In the automation half of her role, she builds and oversees lab automation systems and integrated data infrastructure supporting both Research and Development. On the assays side, she leads cell-based potency and plate-based assay development and GMP/GxP analytical methods across the company's gene editing programs, including PM359 (chronic granulomatous disease), PM577a (Wilson disease), and PM647a (alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency). Her assay development background spans vaccines, biologics, and small molecules, where she is known for taking apart complex assay systems piece by piece to cut out noise and get a cleaner signal. She brings over 12 years of biopharma analytical experience, including 8 years at Merck in High Throughput Assay Development supporting Vaccines Analytical Development, followed by 4.5 years at Prime Medicine and holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University. She will be covering her work on the PM359 program, utilizing Benchling AI and the foundation automation infrastructure at Prime.
