Dr. Fuerst is a professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics, University of Maryland (UMD) and serves as director of the Center for Glycoengineering of Advanced Biologics (CGAB). CGAB’s mission is focused on biomolecular structure-function relationships and measurement sciences with an emphasis on optimization of glycosylation signatures of therapeutic proteins and vaccines. Dr. Fuerst has over three decades of research and development experience in vaccines and biotherapeutics. Prior to joining UMD, he was a founding scientist at MedImmune and later joined the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as director of vaccines and biologics in the Office of the Secretary.
