Wei Lu is a downstream process development professional at Takeda, specializing in the development, optimization, and scale-up of purification processes for biologics. Wei partners cross-functionally with upstream, analytical, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, scalable, and compliant downstream unit operations, with a focus on process performance, product quality, and lifecycle readiness. Wei earned his bachelor’s and PhD degrees from Nanjing University, China. After completing his doctoral studies, he worked in academia and then at Novo Nordisk before joining Takeda. His research background centers on downstream process development and protein engineering, with technical interests spanning chromatography and filtration process development, impurity-clearance strategies, protein chemistry, and analytical development.
