Gorka EriceGlobal Technical Director at AtensSpeaker
Profile
Doctor in Biology specializing in plant responses to environmental challenges. My early research focused on the effects of climate change on alfalfa symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing bacteria, including acclimation to drought and efficiency of Sinorhizobium strains combined with arbuscular mycorrhizae. At the University of Illinois’ Institute for Genomic Biology, I worked on ozone-related tolerance genes. Later, at the Zaidín Experimental Station (EEZ-CSIC) in Granada, I investigated maize and mycorrhizal symbiosis, exploring how fungi regulate root hydraulic conductivity through aquaporins. Since 2018, as Global Technical Director at Atens, I apply this expertise to develop microorganism-based solutions for sustainable agriculture, enhancing productivity and fruit quality.
