Andrew BenderNeural & Machine Learning Scientist at AtlasSpeaker
Profile
Dr. Andrew Bender is a Neural and ML Scientist at Atlas, where he builds signal-processing and machine learning algorithms for a discrete EEG wearable, described as an “Oura ring for the brain.” He earned his PhD in Neurosciences from UC San Diego, where his research focused on neural oscillations, particularly alpha-band rhythms and aperiodic brain activity, and how these signals relate to attention, working memory, and individual differences across development and diagnoses. His work spans end-to-end pipelines, from experimental design and large-scale EEG analysis to modeling and real-time inference, aimed at transforming complex brain signals into interpretable, actionable metrics.
