Jochen Scholz, PhD, is Principal Scientist PAT at Sartorius, bringing deep expertise in Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) for biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Trained as a physicist and physical chemist, he began his career at the Laser Laboratory Goettingen, focusing on spectroscopic and laser‑based analytical methods for industrial fluid systems and applications.
He joined Sartorius in 2007, where he transitioned into bioprocessing and has since led numerous development projects integrating PAT and sensing technologies into single‑use bioprocessing solutions. His work has contributed significantly to advances in process monitoring, control, and data‑driven manufacturing.
In his current role, Jochen provides expert guidance in product development and drives strategic PAT development and innovation initiatives, supporting next‑generation analytical capabilities across the Sartorius portfolio. He also represents the company in BioPhorum’s PAT for Cell and Gene Therapy workstream and contributes to the BPSA Automation Committee, collaborating across the industry to advance modern, automated bioprocessing.
