Matthias Funke is a Microbial Technical Specialist in Lonza’s Business Development Team in Visp, Switzerland. He has more than 15 years of experience in microbial bioprocess development, technology transfer and GMP-manufacturing across clinical and commercial stages. Before moving into his current role, he served as a Strategic Marketeer for Lonza’s Microbial Business Unit and previously headed the Microbial Upstream Development group, where he managed a team of more than 25 scientists and project leaders. Matthias holds a PhD in Biochemical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University / Germany, where he worked on micro-bioreactor technology. He previously also conducted research in organoid cell culture at the University of Leipzig.
