Shivani Desai is a Scientist I in Upstream Process Development at Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease. Prior to working Alexion, she worked at GSK as a co-op, where she worked on scale down model for perfusion processes. She specializes in upstream process development and bioprocess intensification. Her expertise include perfusion technology, process analytical technology and high-density cell culture strategies. Prior to working in the biopharma industry, Shivani completed PhD in Chemical engineering from Lehigh University where her research focused on understanding cell-material interactions to design better materials for cell delivery.
