Dr. Valerie Komatsu is a Process Development Senior Scientist at Amgen in the Cell Line Development group. As a key member of the single cell cloning team, her primary focus is delivering the highest possible quality cell lines for clinical and commercial manufacturing while evaluating novel strategies to maximize the efficiency and predictability of the clone selection process. She received her bachelor’s degree in Genetics and Genomics from Northwestern University (Illinois, USA) and her PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Southern California (California, USA). In addition to her mission to deliver medicine to patients, Valerie is passionate about science communication and advocacy. She received a certificate in Public Policy from the USC Price School of Public Policy and was selected to represent USC at the 2020 Council of Graduate Schools Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
