Mr Zvi Kelman

Director, Biomolecular Labeling Laboratory at NIST

Zvi Kelman is the Director of the Biomolecular Labeling Laboratory (BL²) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He earned a B.Sc. in Agriculture from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a M.Sc. in Cell Biology from the Weizmann Institute of Science. After receiving a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Cornell University Medical College, he was a Helen Hay Whitney Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellow in the laboratories of Thomas Kelly (Johns Hopkins University) and Jerard Hurwitz (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center). He joined the faculty of the Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology (CARB) which was a part the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute (UMBI) as a Life Technologies Professor. He then become a Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2011 he was recruited by NIST to establish the BL² and serve as its director.
